It is a very popular embryo preservation technology nowadays. This method involves taking the embryo that has been fertilized between the most fertile egg and the strongest sperm and cultured it in the laboratory until it grows well, known as a blastocyst. It is then frozen to wait for the embryos to be transferred back to the female uterus and ready for pregnancy.
Embryo cryopreservation processes
Embryo Cryopreservation is a very safe procedure for embryonic cells that includes the following processes:
- The medical team stimulates the ovaries and removes eggs from a woman’s ovaries.
- Put the male sperm into the container provided by the medical team. (may be from fresh or frozen cycle)
- The sperm and eggs are fertilized and passed through the embryo culture process in a standardized, sterile laboratory with proper temperature and humidity control until the strongest and most complete embryo is obtained.
- Put the acquired embryo into the Ice Crystal Anti-Breakage Substance. It can prick the embryo while freezing. Our medical team will use a concentrated Cryoprotectant solution to keep the embryos intact and have a higher survival rate than usual.
- The embryos are stored in a liquid nitrogen tank at -196 degrees Celsius that has been cooled down rapidly (rapid freezing) and waiting for the embryo to be transferred back to the female uterus to prepare for further pregnancy.
What is the purpose for embryo cryopreservation?
- Freeze the remaining good quality embryos from IVF for future or next use without stimulation and collect the eggs again.
- Frozen embryos can be stored for more than 5-10 years.
- Reduce the number of destroyed and incomplete embryos from each cycle of IVF.
- Increase the pregnancy rate higher.
- In case the spouse wants to have children in the future or on the day when the embryo is ready, the embryo can be preserved by Embryo Cryopreservation.
Does embryo cryopreservation affect babies in the future?
Embryo Cryopreservation is performed by expert scientists in standardized laboratories and through state-of-the-art processes. Thus, effective embryo freezing results are assured. There are very few abnormalities of embryos obtained from thawed frozen embryos. According to past treatment results, the successful pregnancy from frozen embryo resulted in better results compared to fresh embryo implantation.
